Emirates are the national carrier of Dubai, and are owned by the government of Dubai. A relatively new airline, operating since 1985, Emirates have grown to become the largest airline in the United Arab Emirates, and the fourth-largest (in terms of passenger miles flown) in the world. Emirates currently fly to over 150 cities in over 80 countries worldwide.
Since 2008, all their operations have been moved to their hub in Dubai, now the third busiest airport in the world. Their fleet totals over 250 aircraft, all of which are wide-body, and includes Airbus A320 and A380's, as well as Boeing 777 and 787's. Emirates are currently the largest operator worldwide of the Airbus A380, as well as the Boeing 777.
Emirates are not currently part of any airline alliances, however they currently have partnerships with over 25 airlines worldwide, including Qantas and Jetstar. Emirates supply their own, award-winning catering onboard all their flights. Their 'ICE' entertainment system is one of the best in the world, and the economy entertainment screens are the largest of any commercial airline.
Emirates are known worldwide for their high quality aircraft as well as high levels of service, and have won the Skytrax 'World's Best Airline' award four times.
Emirates currently depart Australia from five major cities: Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. Passengers can fly direct to New Zealand from Sydney, otherwise all other flights will transit via Dubai.
The Emirates network is extensive, so passengers can visit Europe, Asia, North and South America, the Middle East, Africa and the Pacific.
Emirates don't run set weekly or monthly sales like some airlines; however, they do feature a variety of sales throughout the year! Some recurring ones include Boxing Day (December 26th), Black Friday (after Thanksgiving), and others. They may also feature flash sales, Earlybird sales (for fares booked several months in advance), companion sales (for two or more passengers in one booking) and destination-specific sales, with discounted fares to the U.S, Europe, Asia and more.
There is a 'featured fares' page on their website for any sales that are happening, or you can sign up to their emails to be notified of any future deals. Or just sign up with us, and we will let you know about any great deals!
Emirates offer First, Business, Premium Economy and Economy cabin options on their flights. All fare classes include checked baggage, meals and entertainment.

You can check in for your Emirates flight either online, via the Emirates app, or in person at the airport.
Check in via the app or online opens 48 hours prior to departure. You can also choose seats, pay for extras or upgrade. You can also print your boarding passes and drop luggage using the self-serve kiosks at all major Australian airports, as well as airports and Emirates counters worldwide.
To check in at the airport counter, check directly with the airport website for the exact time the counter opens. However, in general check-in counters are open 3 hours prior to departure for international flights. Please note that if the first sector of your flight is with another airline, ie Qantas, you must check in online or at the airport with them.
The Emirates Frequent Flyer Program is called 'Emirates Skywards'and launched in the year 2000. The program currently has over 16 million members and allows participants to earn 'Skywards Miles', as well as 'Tier Miles' on flights across the Emirates network and flights with certain partner airlines, as well as with partner hotels, dining, banking, car hire and retail outlets.
Skywards Miles are able to be redeemed on 'reward' flights (with Emirates, FlyDubai or partner airlines), upgrades, hotels, tickets to sporting events, or even on items in the Dubai Airport duty free stores. Miles last for three years.
Tier Miles earned determine the level of membership passengers receive, beginning with the entry-level 'Blue' tier and continuing through to the highest 'Platinum' tier.
There is also an Emirates Business Rewards program that allow businesses to register and gain loyalty points by utilising Emirates for their business needs and employee travel.
